University Hall

The University Hall can be used as a place for students and faculty members to interact, for student club activities, for research presentations, concerts, and other services. The Hall includes meeting rooms, Japanese rooms, and halls.

The Hall also includes facilities to enrich student life, such as dining rooms and stores for purchasing books, stationery, and articles for daily use.

Operating hours

  1. The Hall is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (or 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in August)
  2. The Hall is closed on the following days:
    1. a. Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays as proscribed by law
    2. b. University Foundation Day (planned)
    3. c. August 12 to August 18
    4. d. December 28 to January 4 of the next year
    5. e. January 14 to January 16
    6. f. February 25 to February 26 - March 12 to March 13

Using the Hall and other facilities

To use the Hall, Meeting Rooms, Tokiwa, or Kamome facilities, you must complete the application form and obtain approval.

  1. Application for approval
    • Applications are accepted at the Hall office for the use of the Hall from one month before up until four days before (or up until two weeks before for the Assembly Hall). If the Hall director gives special permission, however, exceptions can be made.
    • The request forms can be found at the University Hall Office.
    • Fill out the necessary items, enter the name of the direct supervisor, imprint your seal, and turn the form in to the Hall Office.
    • Forms can be turned in from Monday through Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m.
  2. When using the facilities, be sure to follow the "Yokohama National University Hall Usage Regulations".

The University actively encourages the independent extracurricular activities of students, while offering full-fledged exercise facilities, shared club facilities, and others. Students can use these facilities and participate in the clubs of their choice, and discover their own possibilities by interacting with faculty members, seniors and friends.

Cafeteria I (Cherche)

Commonly called “Ichi Shoku ”
This cafeteria offers a variety of menus including Korean-style grilled and salted kalbi rib beef, deep-fried chicken, hamburger steak, pasta, à la carte dishes such as tofu served cold, and hijiki, salad bar and cakes.
This is a cafeteria-style dining hall where you can select your favorite menu and pay at the cashier at the end.

Cafeteria II (College of Engineering Science Cafeteria)

Located in the College of Engineering Science area near the West Gate, and commonly called “Ni Shoku”

University Coop Lunch Box

Sales locations: College of Engineering Science Lecture Hall A, University Hall, Seagull, and Cafeteria II
There are about 23 types of lunch boxes for sale including three-flavor chicken tsukune bowl, mabo karaage bowl, Chinese bowl, and Korean-style grilled beef bowl, etc. There are regular menus as well as menus that change on a daily basis.

Wada Ben

Open: Monday to Friday 11:30 – 13:00 * closes when sold out
Sales location: 1st floor lobby in the College of Engineering Science, Lecture Hall A
This is a lunch box created during a student project for promoting town development of Wada-machi. The Wada Ben is one way of introducing people to the tasty food and people of Wada-machi in the surrounding area of Yokohama National University.
Wada Ben offers the taste of home cooking, which is particularly welcomed by students living alone. Includes omelette-rice lunch box, and a lunch box with stewed meat or seafood, rice seasoned with soy sauce, and other savory vegetables.

This lunch sale is a collaborative project between YNU staff volunteers and local social welfare facilities, with the cooperation of the City of Yokohama, Hodogaya Ward, and the Community Chest Society of Kanagawa Prefecture. The sales status can be checked in real-time on the digital campus map web application “Y’s navi” (in Japanese).
